Week 1

Oh my goodness, Hudson, you are the most precious thing I've ever seen. You are a week old now! The first four days are kind of a blur from being in the hospital. You had lots of visitors and we had a very busy schedule. We spent most of our time trying to figure out how to feed you. Breastfeeding is very frustrating for both of us but we are getting better with each feeding session. The lactation consultants at the hospital are phenomenal. Trying to move around is probably the hardest part. C-sections are painful!
Lots of visitors!!
We came home on Wednesday, August 3rd. When we got home, we found DeDe and PawPaw doing lots of yardwork at the front of our house. They trimmed bushes and got stuff off the roof. It was probably the hottest day of the year! They wanted our house to look nice for visitors :).

Granna got you that sweet door hanging :)
DeDe gave you your first bath at home on Thursday. I was nervous to hold a squirmy wet baby. You didn't enjoy it at all!

You met your cousins, Lexy and Coleman, and your Uncle Charlie and Aunt Amanda. Poppy finally got to hold you too! Coleman kept saying, "His feet are so soft!". When we let him listen to you snoring (I recorded it with my phone - see above the "mommy is blogging this" picture on the right), he said, "He sounds like a human!" I hope that you and Lexy and Coleman stay very close friends throughout your lives. They are really great kids and love you more than you know!

You had your first doctor's appointment on Friday, August 5th at Gadsden Pediatrics. Dr. Quizon said everything looked great. You gained an ounce since discharge (up to 6lbs 12oz). You are still tiny to me! He recommended to stop your supplemental feedings since you have been nursing so well.

Worn out after the doctor's visit
It's not easy to adjust to a newborn in the house. I woke up one night and was halfway down the hall when your Daddy asked what I was doing. I told him you were crying but when I stopped and really listened, you weren't. I must have been dreaming or something. When I checked on you, you were sound asleep. You have no routine yet. I am craving a routine!!!! Right now, our biggest job/goal is to feed you when you cry and soak up all the "newborness" that you are.

You met your best friend (besides me and Daddy) on Saturday. It was also Aunt Rachel's birthday! She made the cutest bibs for you and David (Hudson's BFF & David's BFF). David wasn't quite sure what to think of you... he petted you like a cat.

DeDe and PawPaw can't stop looking at you to take the picture
