27 Weeks!

We had the doctor's appointment yesterday and everything went well. The glucose test wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I had the option of fruit punch or orange so I went with fruit punch. It just tasted like sugary koolaid. Later that afternoon, we had the 4D ultrasound. He was kind of cooperative but not fully awake and active. We got some great profile shots and hands and feet. She also was able to confirm that he is in fact a boy :)

I did record his heartbeat... he was moving a lot during this part so it sounds kind of irregular but it was normal. (see the player to the top right)

We are 27 weeks today and growing like crazy. The tech who did the 4D said he is measuring around 2 pounds 12 ounces.... which is about a week ahead of schedule. I have not gained over my pre-pregnancy weight yet. I actually lost a pound over the last month but I think it was time of day and clothing. Dr. C says everything is right on track.

Rubbing his nose

My favorite... look at that sweet chin :)

the ONE time he turned and looked at us...
open mouth and a little smile :)

Boy parts!  :)

Sweet feet... kicking like crazy

looks like a wave but he was actually covering his face...
as if to say, "I'm done with this now"

26 Weeks!

You are getting so very strong with your kicks. Daddy and Aunt Rachel got to feel you kick hard today. Both of them screamed like little girls. It was hilarious :). You are less shy with your kicking and movements now... thank goodness. I really think everyone was beginning to think I was making it up because you would only perform for me. This is our last week living with my mom and dad. We'll be moving on Saturday!!! We are sooooo excited to finally live in the house that we've spent 4.5 months thinking about and planning for. In just a few more months, I'll be able to say the same about you... *we'll finally be able to meet this precious miracle that we've spent 9 months thinking about and planning for.*

This week you are as big as a "hothouse cucumber"... whatever that is! Where do they get these comparisons?? You are refining your reflexes each week. This week they talk about your grasping reflex. It actually says, "Grasping something - like my umbilical cord - is my newest trick. Your baby is practicing his killer grip right now. His favorite pull toy is his umbilical cord, which he likes to yank and tug." Crazy. I never even thought about that. You are also working on sucking and breathing... which makes sense but that grasping thing is crazy.

I've been researching crib mattresses and have no idea what to buy. There's so many options and they all claim to be the "safest"... as in your baby will likely die if you buy the wrong one. So scary.

Work has been getting a little tougher physically. A lot of the kids are used to me being up and down/floor to table with them and I just can't do it as easily now. Some of them understand but most don't. Some of them also expect me to carry them or pick them up and that's just not gonna happen.

25 Weeks!

Hi baby Hudson :) - 99% sure this is your name!! I really don't know what my hang-up is about declaring a name for you but I feel really hesitant.... even though I feel really sure about this name.... Hudson Elway Morgan. And if by some chance John Elway goes crazy and kills his family, your middle name will be changed to Elliot or something cute like that :)

We have been very busy working on the house for the last week (DeeDee/JoJo, Pops, and Mommy on the weekends and Daddy during the week at nights.) We are still on target to move in the 30th but I feel like we will be right on the line. I can't wait to get in there!!! I'm ready to have the washer and dryer and your furniture set up so I can organize, fold and refold your clothes. You actually have several piles thanks to Aunt Rachel and a few good sales at Martin's :)

This week, you are growing.... fat precious baby cheeks. For the rest of the pregnancy, you will be "filling out" and becoming more baby and less of a wrinkly little thing. Your hair is growing and developing more texture and color. You are around the size of a rutabaga but you feel like you are getting heavier by the day. I have to be careful about my posture or my back hurts. I feel you every day but you are still shy and won't always let Daddy or anyone else feel you. I get a little freaked out if it's too long between kicks... but you soon remind me that you're ok and then so am I.

I always knew I would love you. I always hoped I would love being pregnant... and I do. I was a little scared at first that I would have unnecessary complications because of my weight. So far, I have been very blessed with an amazingly smooth and comfortable pregnancy. I am beyond overwhelmed that God has blessed me with you, Hudson, and I refuse to take one minute, one "symptom", one ache, or one second of discomfort for granted.

I can't wait to meet you... but take your time! We will get to see your face on the 4D ultrasound on May 4th!!!

24 Weeks!

Hi Baby Hudson (so far the name is sticking :)

You have been a rock star this week :) We can feel you kicking and moving from the outside now. It is so exciting!!! Every day you become more real in our world. You are around the size of an ear of corn this week... huge! They say you can sense right side up from upside down. I think you can because when I roll over you move around just a little. I am beginning to feel you move above my belly button now.

We went to the doctor on Thursday for our routine visit. Everything looks and sounds great. I really want to remember to record your heartbeat with my phone on the next visit so I can play it any time. I love that sound. Our next visit will be May 5th. I will have to do the glucose test then. It's also time to schedule the 4D ultrasound!! I can't wait to see your sweet face!

23 Weeks!

Hi baby boy!

Your name this week is Hudson. I think it will stick. We are 23 weeks this week. You are moving a lot. I think I felt you from the outside for the first time yesterday morning. I can't wait till your daddy can feel you too! We have been very busy working on the house this week. Your daddy has been pretty protective lately and I like it. Not much else is going on right now and I kind of have writer's block :)

I love you!
Mom

22 Weeks!

Hi baby boy!

We are 22 weeks this week and feel great! This is the time that most women say they could stay pregnant forever.... I hear that will change in a few short weeks as we grow together. You are continuing to develop all kinds of things this week... liver, pancreas and brain are biggies this week. You could weigh at least a pound! I have had a lot more energy the past few days... except for this morning and I'm not sure why. I have felt you move a lot lately. It is so cool :). DeeDee (my mom's grandmother name for now) and I went to Martin's this weekend and bought you LOTS of cute clothes for this summer and next summer. Your daddy thinks they are a little girly (because they are smocked) but I assured him that there's a time and a place for smocked outfits in a little boy's life. I don't know if he bought it or not. You will be super cute in everything we put on you. I "bought big" because your friend David is growing a lot faster than expected. I would rather your clothes be a little big than too little and you never get to wear them!

The talk this week has been about baby names!! Everyone has some ideas... we are finally happy with a couple.

Aunt Rachel joked that your name should be Goliath because your best friend will be David. We had a lot of fun playing with that one, "David and Goliath... come in for dinner! David... I told you to stop throwing rocks at Golli! I know he's bigger than you but you can't throw stuff at him!"

Our friend Allen has always called you Dexter... which I actually love the name but "Dexter Morgan" is a character on a show we watch who is a serial killer... kinda ruins the name for us :)

Your daddy still wants your middle name to be Elway. I think I'm ok with it now. I've heard it so much and paired it with so many other names that it's starting to sound right.

Right now we like.... drum roll please....
Hudson
Spencer
Wallace

Yes this is a very short list. This is way harder than I ever imagined it could be!

Hope you like your name :)
Love,
Mom

21 Weeks!

Hi baby BOY! Your daddy and I are still flying high from our last doctor's appointment! We are so excited to be blessed with a little boy. I think our personalities are perfect to raise a boy!

Our newest purchase for you is this precious onesie:
Your daddy loves video games. In some of the games you get ranked as you go along. This onesie says that you are a Level One Human. Strength: 3, Intelligence: 6, Wisdom: 3, Dexterity: 3, Constitution: 4, Charisma: 18, Armor Class: 6, Hit Points: 2, Experience: 0. I personally think your Hit Points should be higher than 2 because you are moving like crazy!

We are also buying you a house on Thursday!!! Yes we will live there too but really from now on everything is for you right?

You are around the size of a banana this week and you are beginning to swallow!! I'm such a proud mama already :). You still won't let me eat chicken and that is VERY hard to do! It's been about 6 weeks since I could eat chicken without losing it. I'm not sure what it is about the chicken... it smells good, looks good and even tastes good but that first bite does it every single time. I'm still pretty tearful at small things and I can tell that I get easily aggravated. The emotions go away almost as quickly as they came.

20 Weeks!

We are half-way today baby!! Your daddy and I got to spend the day together shopping and running errands to prepare for you. Originally, I had the day off so that we could close on our house but that didn't happen as planned. We will be closing on the 24th instead. I'm so glad we got to spend the whole day together. These days are so precious to me as we prepare for you to change our lives forever. We talk a lot about what your name will be and we both try very hard to consider each other's choices carefully.... but... we are two very different people and that makes it pretty hard to agree on something so very huge. We've pretty much decided that I'll pick your first name and your daddy will pick your middle name.

I am feeling you move a lot more and I LOVE IT!! I can't wait till your daddy and everyone else can feel you too! I haven't remembered to bring the ultrasound pictures home from work to scan them and post them. I will try to do that tomorrow. Sometimes I feel like you are eating my brain. I can't remember the simplest things lately!! During the ultrasound, they said you probably weighed in around 11 ounces! That's huge. You're probably the size of a small cantaloupe.

We found the perfect chair for
your nursery at Pottery Barn Kids

We've been discussing the design of your nursery a lot too. We've narrowed down to two options.

1. Neutral walls with blue and green argyle bedding...

2. Blue and green walls (maybe polka dots, stripes or even diamonds) and white bedding with blue/green piping.

This is your furniture.
Now just to buy the house to put all of this stuff in and start decorating!!!!!

It's a boy!!

We had our doctor's appointment today. Both sets of grandparents got to come and see you being stubborn little bean and find out that we can finally call you a HE instead of IT or other random things like fruit.

You crossed your ankles every time she moved the wand to check for boy parts. You covered your face with both hands when she wiggled it around to get you to move. You were VERY active but just not in the right position at first. She let us go see the doctor and told me to eat some crackers and juice to get you in the right spot. We talked to Dr. Cooper about the blood work. She said that it came back great and we are in a very low risk category for birth defects and some diseases. My weight gain/lack of is normal right now.

Finally we got to go back in and see you again. You were a little more cooperative this time... just enough to know that you are a boy! All of your measurements looked great as well and you probably weigh around 11 ounces.

Your daddy and I are so excited to finally know and make more plans like names and paint colors. Little boy, you have a great family waiting patiently to love all over you. Take your time in there :)

I will post the ultrasound pictures tomorrow. They weren't very clear so we will definitely be doing the 4D ultrasound as soon as we can :)

19 Weeks!

This is a HUGE week!!!! In 2 short days, we will know if you are a boy or a girl! I told your daddy last night that I have been waiting all my life for this... to know what my first child will be. This is so surreal. I can't wait till I can feel you more often. I find myself doubting that this is really happening. I know I will feel so much relief when I see your sweet face on the screen and hear that crazy fast heartbeat of yours.

You are the size of a large tomato this week and have gained 2 ounces since last week! Your brain is developing and organizing it's sensory system this week. I'm praying that this week goes especially well for your development. I work with so many kids with sensory problems and worry about your development every day. Whoever you are and whatever your differences are, I will love you and take care of you always.

18 Weeks!

Hi baby bean :) In nine short days we will know if you are a girl or a boy. Right now, your Daddy and I are the only ones who think you are a girl. Everyone around us says that you are a boy.

I really think I felt you kick yesterday. I was sitting at a lunch staff meeting and it felt like someone thumped me from the inside just one time. I kept waiting for it to happen again but it didn't. I can't wait to feel you move again!

This week you are the size of a sweet potato and weigh around 6.7 ounces! You are getting so big and strong. Your bones are beginning to harden... including the bones in your inner ear, which will help you hear sounds in my body like my heartbeat and stomach growling.

Of course there are still things I worry about. This week, I'm a little concerned about my weight gain... actually, lack of weight gain. Not that I want to gain weight but I feel like that's what I'm supposed to be doing right now. I've lost 6 pounds since I found out about you and my nausea/vomiting really wasn't bad enough to justify that kind of weight loss. I do feel full a lot faster than normal just from the weight of you. I can really feel a difference in my body with you in it :)

17 Weeks!

I am in awe of what is to come in the next few months as I sit here with my best friend's 3 month old miracle. This week, baby bean is the size of an onion! We'll know in 2 weeks if our bean is a girl bean or a boy bean and I. can't. wait.

I am so excited that baby bean is learning to swallow, suck and blink this week. Those are really huge things in my profession! I am noticing a lot more growth in my belly size. I had to officially retire the scrubs for awhile this week. I won't be posting belly pics... actually I won't even be taking any belly pics for that matter. I have definitely decided that I want to be MUCH smaller before I get pregnant again (God and Dustin willing :). I have been pretty healthy through this pregnancy so far but I know it's still really early and my weight may become a problem.

As far as symptoms go... I still have some morning sickness but the all day nausea is gone (hooray). I've been a little tearful at the smallest things (commercials and movies) and really tearful at the big things (see Rachel's Randomness). I've have some joint pain... especially my hips and some other pains along with a crampy feeling every now and then that just lets me know baby bean is growing and so am I. Headaches and heartburn were pretty bad at the end of last week but better this week so far. Yesterday, I bought Tums, Tylenol, and belly lotion and felt very pregnant.

My friend Rachel saw this on a blog today and I'm so excited about it....
Praying for your children

16 Weeks :)

I feel like I'm busting out of my scrubs. I think this will be the last week I can wear them.  Saturday night, I went to dinner with my dad and his sunday school class (mom had to work) for a valentine's party. I wore maternity clothes and was very comfortable.... and cute if I say so myself :)

Baby bean is the size of an avocado this week and continuing to develop as planned... as far as I know. I am continuously in awe of what God is doing our lives with the development of this baby and everything else that's going on. There's not much else going on in the baby development department from what I've read. I should be feeling consistent movement in the next couple of weeks and I am very very very excited about that!

I went by the bank on Saturday and ironed out the details of our mortgage and got a great interest rate locked in. Things are still moving along smoothly and we're just waiting to close and move in... all the while, dreaming of renovations, paint chips, and nursery decor :)

Sickness...

I was really worried about strep after several of my patients reported having it in the last week and a couple of family members too. Late Tuesday, I started feeling awful and sick and then got really freaked out so I called my OB and they fit me in at eight the next morning. Thankfully, their office is on campus at our hospital! The strep test was negative and I instantly felt better... weird. I got to hear baby bean's heartbeat again too... totally unexpected and what a great start to my day. So now it's Friday and my throat/nose/sinuses are feeling much better. I've had a lot more nausea and vomiting the past two weeks than I did during the whole first trimester. It's been a rough couple of weeks! Needless to say, my appetite isn't so great... I can only seem to finish half a meal at a time... I don't have time for twenty small meals a day!

15 Weeks!

Hi Baby!!

We made it to 15 weeks today and the most amazing thing happened yesterday. I really think I felt you move! It was surreal. I really didn't feel good when I got home from work so I laid down for a little bit. Once I started feeling better and was almost asleep, I felt the tiniest movement right below my belly button. It felt like bubbles popping or butterfly wings. It lasted for just a minute and left me wanting more. Your daddy came in and saw my eyes big as saucers and I told him what happened. He was thrilled... and a little jealous - I think.

You are growing so much! I feel your presence when I bend over or lean on the counter. The hair on your head is growing and getting its color! I wonder if you will be dark headed like mommy or cotton headed like daddy when he was a baby. You are the size of a navel orange and 2.5 ounces.

I am still not feeling well today. My throat and ears started hurting and my sinuses are very congested. My heart has been racing all day. I had my mom check my blood pressure and it was normal but my pulse was 90 just sitting there doing nothing. I am going to the doctor in the morning just to be safe. I wouldn't usually go right away but I seem to take better care of myself now that you are part of me. Time for some rest...

Love you,
Mom

Check up :)

We had our check up today!! Your little heart is beating away between 140 and 150. We saw Dr. Knott today and he was super nice and very informative. Daddy had to work tonight so I called ahead to make sure they were just doing to heartbeat and no ultrasound! My mom was able to go with me and keep me company. Our next appointment is March 10th! Hopefully we will find out if you are a boy or a girl during that visit. We are praying that you cooperate for the camera :). I can't wait to see you!!! Last time I saw you, you were no bigger than an appleseed and did not look like a baby yet!

14 Weeks!!

Good morning Baby Bean!

We get to go to the doctor this week!! I always look forward to my doctor appointments because I get to hear your heartbeat. It's so amazing... and so very fast! You are growing and I can feel it! I can't feel you move yet but I am so excited at the idea!

The BabyBump app says that you are able to make some facial expressions like squinting or frowning... now what in the world would you have to frown about?! It also says you may be growing hair on your head and face like eyebrows... this always cracks us up because we talk so much about what a hairy baby you will be... you just don't have a chance to not be... sorry love! You are the size of a lemon this week, weighing in at a whopping 1.5 oz and measuring 3.4 inches!

Nesting...

I know it's too early to truly be nesting but I so had that urge last night. I cleaned and straightened and did laundry still I was worn slap out. It's nice to be able to stay up until after 9:00 for a change. I've noticed lately that I don't require nearly as much sleep as I did a few weeks ago... I'm not sure if I'm happy about this or not :)

13 Weeks!!

I am so excited to be starting my second trimester today!!!! So far, I have really had a great pregnancy! I've had very little nausea - but when I did, it was a doozy!

This week, Baby Bean, you are the the size of a PEACH and weigh almost a pound! Your body is starting to catch up with the size of your head. Your motor skills are starting to work. You are able to move and flex your arms and legs but I won't be able to feel it until 18-20 weeks.

I went to Gatlinburg with my church ladies this past weekend. They were so so so sweet to us! They pampered me by not allowing me to sleep on an air mattress, ride in the back seat, pull my suitcase (on wheels), or sit in the floor during our bible study even though I was the youngest there :).

While in Gatlinburg, I finally found some maternity clothes. I haven't actually gained any weight since I found out I was pregnant but my clothes are beginning to fit differently! I bought 1 pair of jeans and 5 shirts that will be great for this spring/summer when it is so hot. They are super cute. I really enjoyed shopping for and buying stuff to show off this belly that I am usually trying to hide :).

We negotiated on a house over the weekend too. They accepted our offer Sunday evening!!! We are so excited. We may not be able to close until the middle of March but that just gives us a chance to save more money. We will also find out if you are a boy or a girl around that time too!!  I can't wait!! I haven't let myself buy baby stuff yet because I really want to know boy or girl first. Everyone seems to think you are a boy and have come up with several funny names for you.
